Hello folks, welcome back once again to The REI Contractor. This week Jon is watching the before and after of our recently complete duplex conversion in upper Hamilton. This was a student rental property that had to be left in a hurry when schools closed down and oh boy was it a mess. When we took over this project there was all manner of things left behind, from the myriad of beds in the basement to the left overs of what looked like a good party upstairs.

Three full demo bins later we were in business, tearing down the basement to the walls and giving the upstairs some overdue attention, particularly in the kitchen. This project was certainly not the usual, not only was the demo more extensive we had to remove a breezeway between the house and garage to accommodate city code. We also did a major over haul on the exterior, a transformation so drastic it’s got the neighbours talking.
